Envoys to present 3-year work plan to JS body

DHAKA, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – The government has decided that Bangladeshi envoys to different countries must present their three-year work plans before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Foreign Affairs Ministry prior to taking up their new assignments abroad.

The initiative has been started formally while two newly appointed Bangladesh envoys presented their three-year work plans before the 12th meeting of the JS watchdog at Sangsad Bhaban here on Sunday, a foreign ministry press release said here.

Newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Ambassador to Romania M Daud Ali presented their work plans to the meeting.

Presided over by the committee chairman M Faruk Khan, the meeting was attended by committee members Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Md Habibe Millat, Nahim Razzaque and Kazi Nabil Ahmed.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the initiative of presenting work plan will increase the accountability of the Bangladesh envoys abroad.

During the meeting, head of Corona related cell of foreign ministry Dr Khalilur Rahman gave a presentation describing the measures taken by the ministry in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in the country that include repatriation of Bangladeshis as well as foreigners amid flight suspension.

Secretaries concerned and senior officials of the foreign ministry and JS Secretariat were present.
