Nine more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – Nine more people were tested positive
for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and
Dinajpur raising the total number of patients to 579 in Rangpur
division.

Health officials said the new nine patients were found after testing
a total of 282 samples at the two laboratories today in Rangpur
division.

Of them, five patients were found after testing 188 samples at the
COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC),” said Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal
of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

The five new infected patients include three of different areas in
Rangpur metropolis and a female physician of Kurigram General Hospital
and one of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district, Dr. Lyzu added.

Meanwhile, four new infected patients were found after testing 94
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at MARMC in Dinajpur today.

“The four new patients include one each of Biral upazila in
Dinajpur, Boda upazila of Panchagarh, Dimla upazila of Nilphamari and
Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor
Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS at 7:55 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
rose to 579 in Rangpur division with the newly infection of nine
patients today.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at
270 in Rangpur, 20 in Panchagarh, 64 in Nilphamari, 27 in Lalmonirhat,
56 in Kurigram, 35 in Thakurgaon, 83 in Dinajpur and 24 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
