Nasir murder suspect dies in Ctg gunfight
CHATTOGRAM, May 17, 2020 (BSS) – The main accusedof Nasir murder case was
killed in a gunfight at Charondip village under Boalkhali upazila of the
district early today.
The deceased was identified as Shawkat Hossain, 39, son of Hachi Mia,
hailed from Charondip village under Boalkhali upazila of the district.
SM RashidulHoque, Superintendent of Police (SP) Chattogram district, told
BSS that police arrested Jasim and Shawkat Hossain with a pistol, a LG gun,
five rounds of ammunition, two cartridges, a knife and a sharp weapon last
night.
“According to the confession of Shawkat Hossain, police launched an
operation to arrest the rest accused involved in the murder,” RashidulHoque
added.
The police team reached BaruaparaBalurghat area with Shawkat Hossain,
suddenly Shawkat’s followers opened fire on the police team, prompting the
law enforcers to fire back in self-defence, triggering the gunfight around 3
am, he added.
After the gun battle, police found the bullet-ridden Shawkat Hossain on the
spot.
He was rushed to Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex where the attending
doctors declared him dead after admission, the SP said.
On Friday night, a youth Nasir was shot dead at his residence in the
aforesaid area.
