DHAKA, May 16, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister and Awami League
Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock
and sorrow at the death of noted singer, composer, music director and
filmmaker Azad Rahman.
In a condolence message, the minister recalled Azad’s contribution
to different aspects of the music, including khayal, a modern genre of
Hindustani classical music.
“At the death of Azad Rahman, we have lost an impeccable musical
talent,” Hasan said.
He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.
The National Film Award recipient in music, Azad Rahman breathed
his last around 4.00 today at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in
the city at the age of 76.
He left behind his wife, three daughters, and a host of relatives
and admirers to mourn his death.
