Govt preparing work plan to cope with coronavirus fallout: Swapan
DHAKA, May 13, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Rural Development and
Cooperatives Division SwapanBhattacharjee today said the government is
preparing a work plan to minimise the possible loss caused by coronavirus
fallout.
“The Rural Development and Cooperatives Division is directly contributing
to the country’s poverty reduction. We should be more active amid the ongoing
crisis,” he said while speaking at an emergency meeting at the division’s
conference room here.
The meeting was arranged to prepare a work plan to address the adverse
impacts induced by COVID-19 pandemic.
Swapan said the government is working relentlessly to address the
coronavirus crisis and it would be quite impossible to tackle the crisis
without united efforts from all.
He said the mass transportation and business entities remained closed in
the country to ensure social distancing at field level aiming to prevent the
spread of coronavirus.
“Some areas have already been brought under lockdown and many others areas
of the country would be brought under lockdown gradually,” the state minister
said.
Rural Development and Cooperatives Division secretary Md Rezaul Ahsan,
MilkVita chairman Sheikh Nadir Hossain and additional secretary of the
division Afzalul Hossain, among others, werepresent at the meeting.
