Maleque urges physicians to serve COVID-19 patients with dedicated mindset

DHAKA, May 13, 2020 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid
Maleque today urged newly recruited physicians to show maximum dedication
while performing duties for COVID-19 patients.

“The government has recruited you (newly recruited doctors) for treatment
of coronavirus positive patients. So, you are lucky ones… you have got
opportunities for serving COVID-19 infected patients,” he told a workshop
here, an official release said.

The orientation workshop was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh College
of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) at Mohakhali in the city.

Secretary of Health Education Division Ali Nur and Additional Director
General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Sania Thamina
and BCPS President Kazi Din Mohammad, among others, were present at the
workshop with Secretary of Health Service Division Ashadul Islam in the
chair.

As part of increasing healthcare facilities, the government has recruited
the medical professionals in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the health
minister added.

“We recruited a large number of medical professionals at a quickest
possible time… recruitment process of medical technologists is underway to
strengthen our health system to fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.

On May 4, the government temporarily recruited 2,000 more physicians from
the waiting list of the 39th special batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS)
to expand treatment facilities for COVID-19 patients in the country.
