KHULNA, May 09, 2020(BSS)-As part of the district-wise lockdown, Khulna district administration here today started buying Boro paddy through Android platform-based mobile application (app) “Krishaker Hasi” directly from farmers amid the coronavirus crisis.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader inaugurated the Boro paddy buying through mobile app from farmers in Moheswapasha area under Digholia upazila in Khulna as chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner(General) Ziaur Rahman, Regional Food Controller Md. Mahbubur Rahman, President of Khulna Press Club SM Nazrul Islam, Deputy Chief Information Officer of Khulna M. Javed Iqbal, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dighalia upazila Md. Hafiz-al-Assad and print and electronic media journalists were present at the event.
Anwar Hossain Howlader said, “Farmers do not get fair prices for their paddy in most cases. So the government has decided to procure paddy directly from farmers through the app.”
Khulna district administration is set to purchase 701 metric tons of Boro paddy from the farmers of Dighalia upazila of Khulna through digital app ‘Krishaker Hasi’ at a price of Tk 28 per kg.
Notably, the farmers will have to register to sell their paddy. They can apply to sell their paddy once the registration is approved. The application will be stored in the database.
Later, a team led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer will conduct a lottery among the applicants. The selected farmers will get their allotment through online procedure.
The selected farmers will get a text SMS on their cell phones about the confirmation.
