Liton distributes essential items in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, May 9, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today distributed essential items among 1,500 daily wage earning households aimed at mitigating their hardships being caused by the coronavirus pandemic in the city.
The families, most of those businessmen badly affected by the virus outbreak, were given five kilograms of rice, two kilograms of potato, one kilogram of pulse and two kilograms of pumpkin each at in front of RDA Market.
Through this distribution, he opened the city’s new programme of providing food items to 11,100 more jobless and other less-incoming households during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Liton said the food items were handed over to 37 organizational leaders of the city unit of Bangladesh Awami League.
Earlier, he distributed 223 tonnes of rice, 41 tonnes of pulse and 52 tonnes of potato among 45,000 families.
Besides, the city corporation has distributed 513 tonnes of rice among 51,500 poor families from the government allocation.
“We are distributing the relief materials among the jobless people as part of the government’s instant humanitarian support to cope with the present situation,” Liton said, adding the assistance will continue until the situation is removed.
