Nasim for assisting journos’ during Coronavirus pandemic

DHAKA, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League Presidium Member and spokesperson of the central 14-party alliance Mohammad Nasim today urged the government to take steps for ensuring safety of journalists and to extend supports to them during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, the AL leader said the soldiers who are working as journalists will have to be brought under the assistance. “I specially urge the Prime Minister and Information Minister to take steps in this regard,” he added.

He said the daily Somoyer Alo chief reporter Humayun Kabir Khokan died due to Coronavirus. Besides, many journalists are working relentlessly and assist the government to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, he added.

Nasim said the journalists are also soldiers against the Coronavirus like doctors, nurses and law enforcers saying the people and administration as well got the updated news and information from the journalists.

So, he said, it is the duty and responsibility of media owners and the government to assist the journalists during the pandemic.
