Red Crescent continues countrywide operations to face COVID-19

DHAKA, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) has been working closely with the government to prevent and control Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) through its countrywide various operations.

The society has been providing food parcels among the poor and helpless families, setting up Isolation units for COVID-19 patients, spraying disinfectant at hospitals and various establishments, distributing health safety materials like hygiene kits, health sanitizers, soaps, hand gloves, eye protectors, masks, PPEs among people, installing basins at various points to facilitate hand washing and conducting awareness campaigns, said a press release.

The Society said it’s volunteers have sprayed disinfectant at 262 hospitals across the country for 2,285 times till April 26 as well as sprayed disinfectant at various ministries and departments, at various public and private offices, at mosques, temples and other places of worships, at offices of the law enforcement agencies, at police stations in the capital, media houses and in hatbazars.

Besides, the volunteers of the society are also distributing awareness leaflets among people, motivating people to maintaining social distancing and build the habit of hand washing, and distributing cooked food among the poor and floating people of the country.

As part of its series of operations to prevent and control COVID-19, the BDRCS volunteers on April 28 and 29 sprayed disinfectant at the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare, Disaster Management and Relief, Home Affairs and DGHS.

Apart from this, the society provided some 50 isolation beds to Ramu and Chakaria upazila health complexes while 50 more isolation beds would be provided to these two health complexes later.
