Over 3.5 crore people get relief amid COVID-19 crisis
DHAKA, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – Over 3.5 crore people across the country have
received relief assistance as the government continues its efforts to
mitigate their sufferings in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
A total of 114,067 metric tones of rice has so far been allocated for 64
districts while 88,583 metric tones of them have been distributed among more
than 3.5 crore people of 78,37,735 families as humanitarian assistance till
yesterday, an official handout said here today.
Besides, the government has so far allocated cash Taka 59.65 crore to the
64 districts across the country while over Taka 48.83 crore has already been
distributed in cash to 22,180,000 people of 44,78,000 families, the handout
added.
A total of Taka 10,71,65,000 was allocated as baby food aid while Taka
7,71,34,000 has so far been distributed among 505,228 people of 250,000
families.
