12 more detected as coronavirus positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 30, 2020 (BSS) – Twelve more people were detected as coronavirus (COVID-19) positive after testing a total of 282 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories located in Rangpur and Dinajpur in Rangpur districts today.

Health officials said the total number of COVID-19 infected patients sharply rose to 128 today with the detection of 12 more coronavirus patients in five districts of Rangpur division.

“We detected 11 new COVID-19 patients after testing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RMC) today,” said Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Laizu.

“The 11 newly detected COVID-19 patients include seven of Rangpur district, one each of Dimla and Sadar upazilas of Nilphamari and one each of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram and Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon districts,” Dr. Laizu said.

Principal of M Abdur Rahim Medical College ((MARMC) Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS at 6 pm that one person was detected as coronavirus positive after testing 94 collected samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at MARMC today.

The district-wise break of detected COVID-19 patients now stands at 39 in Rangpur, eight in Panchagarh, 15 in Nilphamari, three in Lalmonirhat, 11 in Kurigram, 16 in Thakurgaon, 17 in Dinajpur and 19 Gaibandha districts of the division.
