Public transport suspension extended until May 5

DHAKA, April 24, 2020 (BSS) – The government has decided to extend the suspension of public transport services until May 5 as the general holidays extended for the fourth time on Thursday aiming to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the emergency utility services, the movement of all food and goods-carrying vehicles on roads and water vessels on river routes, transportation of government projects’ goods, energy, medicine, medical equipments, baby food, agricultural products, industrial goods, fertilisers, insecticides, animal fodder, fisheries and livestock products, dairy products and daily essentials, vehicles carrying relief goods and newspapers and pharmaceuticals industry will remain out of the purview of the shutdown, said an official press release.

But, the goods-carrying vehicles will not be allowed to carry passengers, the release added.
