Railway engineer suspended for fuel oil pilferage in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 23, 2020 (BSS) – Local railway authorities suspended one of its engineers on charge of fuel oil pilferage from a storage tank at Rajshahi Railway Station here today.

Police also arrested three employees of local depot of Jamuna Oil Company Limited on the same charge, said Safiqur Rahman, chief electrical engineer of the west zone of Bangladesh Railway, adding Senior Sub Assistant Engineer Abul Hassan has been suspended as he is the in-charge of the tank.

He continued that the persons, who are now in police custody, are identified as depot in-charge Amzad Hossain and its employee Mukul Ali and lorry helper Ilias Hossain.

Shah Kamal, officer-in-charge of GRP Police Station, said the persons in accomplishes with each other pilferage around 10,000 liter of diesel from the tank and uploaded those in a tank lorry.

But the on-duty railway security personnel caught the lorry red-handed and informed the authority about the matter.

However, the driver of the lorry managed to escape, the police officer added.

A case has been recorded in this connection.
