Health services resume at KUHC after lockdown

RANGPUR, April 22, 2020 (BSS) – Health services resumed at Kishoreganj Upazila Health Complex (KUHC) in Nilphamari today after a 14-day lockdown status as a physician was tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) positive on April 7 last there.

“After the 14-day lockdown period, medical services resumed at the 50-bed KUHC today,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight.

The normal medical services in the 50-bed health complex remained stopped during the lockdown period.

“Around 100 people including all nine physicians, 19 nurses, 19 patients, officers and staff members of the health complex together with their family members were put on home quarantine on April 7,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Besides, 50 more people who returned home after visiting the health complex and receiving treatments there were also put on home quarantine along with their family members.

“Later, their samples were collected and sent to the COVID-19 Laboratory at RMC and none of them was tested for coronavirus positive after testing their samples,” he said.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 infected physician of the health complex also returned home on April 19 last after completing treatment at Kurmitola Hospital in Dhaka city.

Kishoreganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Abu Shafi Mahmud said the outpatient and emergency department services at the health complex, permanent vaccination center have been opened as before.

However, patients suffering from fever, cold, cough and shortness of breath will receive medical treatment at the Fu Corner of the outpatient department.
