DHAKA, April 21, 2020 (BSS) – A C-130J aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) returned home today with 70 Bangladeshi expatriates from the Maldives in the wake of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

BAF Group Captain Md Enamul Haque led the team of 15 BAF air crew, said an ISPR press release here.

The BAF is carrying out various activities at the directives of the prime minister to contain coronavirus spread.

The BAF aircraft carried 71 Maldivians from Dhaka to Male as a sign of friendship on behalf of the Bangladesh government.

Later, on return flight, the Bangladeshi expatriates returned home.

It has been possible to bring them back to the country at the request of the expatriate Bangladeshis and with the earnest support of the Maldives government.

According to the decision of Bangladesh, those migrants who are not infected with Covid-19 returned Bangladesh only after being confirmed by proper medical checkup.

The BAF aircraft left Dhaka for Male on Monday with 71 Maldivians and a 10-member Armed Forces medical team for providing Covid-19 related treatment to Bangladesh nationals in the Maldives.
