Govt always remains beside farmers: DrRazzaque
NETRAKONA, April 21, 2020 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Mohammad
AbdurRazzaque today said the government always remains beside farmers of the
country and it has already taken all the necessary steps to help farmers to
harvestBoro paddy timely amid the pandemic of Covid-19.
“The government always stands by the farmers and workers . . . As per the
directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, it has already taken special
steps for sending paddy-cutting labourers to the country’s Haor areas,
including Netrakona district, ensuring all protective measures,” he said.
While speaking with local Boro cultivators and farm laborers at Modan and
Khaliajuryupazilas here, the agriculture minister advised them to strictly
follow the health instructions and maintain social distancing during the
harvesting of Boro paddy so that coronavirus cannot spread.
DrRazzaque, also ruling Awami League presidium member, added that the
government provided 128 combined harvesters and 23 paddy- ripper machines to
framers of the Haor areas to assist them in harvesting Boro paddy timely.
During his visit inHaor areas,he distributed masks, sanitizers, soaps and
lungies among 200 paddy-harvesting workers.
During the visit, State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru,
Asim Kumar Ukil, MP, Manu Mojumder, MP, Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP,
Agriculture Ministry Secretary Mohammad Nasiruzzaman, Director General (DG)of
Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) Dr Mohammad ShahjahanKabir and
Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona Main-Ul-Islam and Police Super
