40-bed Corona field hospital starts journey in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 21, 2020 (BSS) – The first field hospital in Chattogram began its journey today to fight against the Corona virus. Talking to BSS Dr Bidduth, who came up with the idea of the hospital, said the hospital started its journey through receiving and examining patients.

He said though it is a 40-bed hospital, it has accommodation for 60 patients with required facilities, including ICU and ventilation.

Mentioning that the initiative has created more opportunities for treating corona patients in the region, he said there is a dedicated team of 10 doctors, required number of nurses, health workers and a number of volunteers to assist them.

Earlier, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, director of Chattogram divisional Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir and Navana Group Vice-Chairman Sajedul Islam visited the hospital to see its progress.

In cooperation with Navana Group, the hospital was established at 6500 square-feet of a two-story building at Chhalimpur village under Sitakunda upazila of the district.

“Moreover, the local administration has given us sufficient support to establish the hospital,” he added. Dr Bidduth said ambulance facility is also available to carry the patients.
