Majhpara village locked down in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, April 13, 2020 (BSS) – The local administration locked down
village Majhpara of Dharmopal union in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari
district today after a college student was tested positive for coronavirus.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Nilphamari Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Barman said the village
has been locked down from this afternoon after the college student was tested
COVID-19 positive at the COVID-19 Laboratory of Rangpur Medical College
(RMC).

Jaldhaka upazila administration locked down the village and called upon
the villagers to remain at home quarantine, maintain social distancing and
abide by the health directives of the government.

“Earlier, the student fell ill at home with fever and loose motion a week
ago and was admitted to nearby Dimla Upazila Health Complex on April 8. His
blood samples were sent to the COVID-19 Laboratory at RMC on April 11 last,”
the CS said.

The student was released from Dimla Upazila Health Complex on April 11 as
he felt better. Since then, he has been living at his village home.

“After testing collected samples of the student at the COVID-19 Laboratory
in Rangpur today, he was found to be COVID-19 positive,” the CS said, adding
that local administration locked down the village as per direction of the
authorities concerned.

With this latest detection, a total of four people were found COVID-19
positive in Nilphamari district since April 7.

“The other three COVID-19 patients include – a physician who came to his
workplace in Kishoreganj upazila from Dhaka, a youth who returned to his
village Khata Madhupur in Saidpur upazila from Narayanganj and an adolescent
who returned home in Balapara union of Dimla upazila from Gazipur,” he added.
