ACC director dies of coronavirus

DHAKA, April 6, 2020 (BSS) – A director of Anti-Corruption Commission
(ACC) died of COVID-19 at Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital in the
capital this morning.

“The ACC director was admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 infection few
days back. He died this morning,” ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya
told BSS.

Administrative officer of the hospital Md Alimuzzaman said the ACC official
was admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 symptoms a week ago and later he
was put in its ICU with life support after his condition deteriorated.

The ACC director died of coronavirus at about 7 this morning, he added.

A senior official (Uttara Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)
said after the ACC director died of COVID-19, his wife and son were taken to
isolation unit at the same hospital.

He said the ACC staff, who came close contact with the director, were also
sent to quarantines.

The ACC director was a cadre officer (admin) of the 22nd batch of
Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). He joined the national anti-graft agency as a
director in July 2017.
