1119 foreign returnees released from home-quarantine in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, April 4, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 1119 foreign returnees have
been released from home quarantine so far out of the total 1157, who were
kept in home quarantine as part of precautionary measures to prevent the
spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the district.

Dr. Anwarul Amin Akanda, civil surgeon of Manikganj district today said a
total of 1157 overseas returnees were put under self-quarantine in seven
upazilas and two municipalities of the district till April 2 to prevent
community transmission of coronavirus. Of them, 1119 were released and 38
have been kept in home quarantine.

“Of the total, the blood samples of 12 persons were sent to IECDR for test
on Thursday as some symptoms appeared of coronavirus and we are waiting for
the results,” the civil surgeon added.

He said no death case of COVID-19 was reported in the district and none
was detected with COVID-19 till now.

“We have been distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in
Manikganj district including Manikganj municipality area to help the doctors
and nurses deal with patients infected with COVID 19.

Manikganj district administration, Police and district health department
officials are distributing leaflets inscribed with necessary health
instructions for containing the spread of the lethal virus.

Besides, members of the armed forces and different law enforcement
agencies are distributing masks and leaflets, spraying disinfectants on the
streets and public places and carrying out cleanliness campaign to prevent
community transmission of COVID-19 in the district.
