$200m invested in country’s start-up ecosystem: Palak

DHAKA, March 03, 2020 (BSS) – Mentioning that building start-up ecosystem
is crucial for country’s economic growth, State Minister for Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said 200
million dollars have come to the country as investment for start-up money in
the last four years.

“Two hundred million dollar has come to the country as investment for
start-up in the last four years,” he told the inaugural session of Venture
Capital Fund at a city hotel as the chief guest.

Financial assistance is very much needed to form start-up ecosystem for all
the entrepreneurs in the country, he said

Aiming to flourish the start-up system in the country, he said the
government has extended its assistance to new entrepreneurs providing funding
facilities.

As part of the assistance, the government has given allotment of Taka 1
crore in the current budget to help entrepreneurs of the country, he said.

He said young entrepreneurs have a vital role in the economic growth of the
country, adding private organisations like Industrial Development Leasing
Company of Bangladesh Limited (IDLC) should come forward along with
government to make the sector more thriving.

He urged entrepreneurs to create new innovative solutions to meet up the
local demand of the country.

IDLC Finance Limited CEO and Managing Director Arif Khan also spoke on the
occasion, among others.
