DHAKA, Feb 29, 2020 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today said in Mujib Year, 100 lakh (1 crore) saplings will be planted in 492 upzilas of the country simultaneously to keep proper balance of the environment.

“100 lakh (1 crore) saplings will be planted in 492 upzilas of the country simultaneously to keep proper balance of the environment,” he told a prize-distribution ceremony of an annual picnic organised by the ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at Aladin’s Park in Dhamrai of the district.

He also stressed on concerted efforts of all to make country’s environment better.

“The incumbent government is implementing ‘Zero Tolerance’ against environment pollution. If people work with government aiming to make the country free from pollution, they will get a better Sonar Bangladesh,” he said.

Around 500 illegal brick kilns and factories were destroyed last year as those kilns created air pollution in the country, he said.

Even, mobile courts are now conducted to stop plying vehicles that cause massive smoke emission, he added.

He said special focus was given on waste management system in all mills and factories of the country. Use of alternative block has been introduced to avoid brick in factories so that a pollution-free situation can be emerged in the country, he added.

Pragmatic steps will be taken in order to recycle the polythene and plastic wastes, he said.
