Bangladesh economy to overtake Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong by 2024: Kamal

SAVAR, Feb 27, 2020 (BSS) – Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said the economy of Bangladesh will surpass that of Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong by 2024.

“The economy of Bangladesh flourished immensely under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The country will overtake Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong by 2024,” he said.

The minister made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a Fresher’s Reception and Reunion of Cumilla Zilla Students’ Association of Jahangirnagar University (JU) here.

Cumilla Zilla Students’ Association organized the programme at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha of the university around 7pm where JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam was as the special guest.

Addressing the function, the minister said, “The government has taken massive initiatives to develop economic sectors of the country. At present, we have achieved sustainable economic situation. In the last 10 years, we have moved forward economically in relatively different countries.”

Convener of the reunion committee and Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry Farid Aziz, Deputy Secretary of Planning Ministry Dr. Md Mozammel Haque Khan, Chairman of Agriculture Statistics department of Sher E Bangla Agriculture University Noor Md Rahmatullah and Patron of Cumillah Zilla Students’ Association Professor Nazrul Islam spoke at the function, among others.

JU Pro-VC (Admin) Professor Amir Hossain, Pro-VC (Education) Professor Nurul Alam, acting Registrar Rahima Kaneez, teachers of different departments and over 3000 students of the university were present at the function.
