Police force becoming people-friendly: IGP

NETRAKONA, Feb 26, 2020 (BSS) – Inspector General of Police Dr Muhammad Javed Patwary today said the Bangladesh Police is becoming people-friendly as they are working relentlessly to earn people’s trust for building a peaceful society through ensuring law and order situation.

“As part of the development programmes of the government, the police force of the country has been modernized and it has already become a people -friendly force reducing its gap with the people,” he said.

He came up with the remarks while addressing the annual police rally and sports competition-2020 held at Netrakona police lines here as the chief guest.

Deputy inspector general of police, Mymensing range, Mohamamd Harunor Rashid was present at the function as special guest with Superintendent of Police Netrakona Akbar Ali Munshi in the chair.

Javed said police has been able to uproot militancy from the country and at the present time, police are putting its best and sincere efforts to stop illegal drug abuse and drug trading in the country.

He said police will continue the efforts until the country is freed from drugs.

District-level officers, including Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Main-UL-Islam, public representatives, including Mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, freedom fighters, civil society members and journalists were present on the occasion.

IGP also said police have already taken elaborate programmes to observe the Mujib Year.
