DHAKA, Feb 25, 2020 (BSS) – “Sangma On A Wheelchair”, a biographic book on
differently-abled ethnic minority boy Joshiah Sangma Chibol, an elected
member of prestigious DUCSU, who wants to spread his wings on a wheelchair,
hit the Amar Ekushey Granthamela this year.

The book authored by Sumana Chisim, a Bangladesh-born right activist and
writer now living in the USA, tells the story of a journey from the very
upbringing to the person who earned acclamation for his pro-active role in
different activities for the betterment of the differently abled students of
Dhaka University.

“The book reflects two major parts– one my ethnical identity and the other
one is the vehicle that is part and parcel of my life,” Sangma, popularly
known as Chibol Sangma, told BSS today.

‘Thokbirim Publication’ published the book which is available at its stall
at the “Little Mag” corner in book fair.

The book also describes the activities made by Sangma as an executive
member of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) in the last
one year.

Twenty four-year-old Sangma, a master’s student of Sanskrit Department and
a member of minority ethnic Garo community, was not even born when the last
Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls were held in 1990.

Getting admission to the DU under 2014-15 sessions, ever-smiling Sangma,
who could not move without wheelchair since his 11-year-old, attained the
status to be a member of DUCSU though much-talked about March 11, 2019 polls
that held after nearly three decades.

It was not an easy journey for him to be a DUCSU leader as his entire life
went through different hurdles.
