Pranab Mukherjee, Bidhya Devi to address JS spl session

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2020 (BSS) – Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari are expected to address the special session of the Jatiya Sangsad slated for March 22 and 23 on the occasion of Mujib Year.

President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury paid a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban here this evening.

President M Abdul Hamid will give the invitation to the two world leaders to for delivering their speeches on the occasion of Mujib Year, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Abedin said.

He said the President was apprised of overall preparation of the special parliament session and some other programmes, including children fair on the JS complex on March 19, as part of the events.

Besides, the speaker informed the President about the different development activities in the parliament complex during the meeting. The head of the state appreciated the initiatives taken by the Jatiya Sangsad to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bangali of all times.

This celebration would help know the new generation both home and abroad about the life and works of the Father of Nation, President Hamid added.
