JS body for submitting list of unauthorised bridge
DHAKA, Feb 25, 2020 (BSS) – The parliamentary standing committee on the
Ministry of Shipping today recommended presenting the list of the
unauthorized bridges, which have been constructed on rivers across the
country without the permission of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport
Authority (BIWTA).
The parliamentary watchdog made the recommendation at its 19th meeting
held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee chairman Major (retd)
Rafiqul Islam in the chair, said a press release.
The various development projects adopted by Mongla Port Authority,
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Bangladesh Inland
Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) were presented at the meeting and
discussed the progress of the projects.
Committee members – Shajahan Khan and Mahfuzur Rahman also took part in the
meeting, the release added.
Among others, additional secretary of Shipping Ministry, chiefs of
different organisations and officials concerned of the parliament secretariat
were also present.
