5-Day mourning programme begins at Shishu Academy

DHAKA, August 10, 2017 (BSS) – A five-day programme of Bangladesh Shishu Academy marking the National Mourning Day began today at its auditorium here.

The programme began with an essay writing competition on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Other programmes held today included a quiz competition, prize distribution and inauguration of a book sale center.

This year, the Shishu Academy organized an essay competition on “Bangabandhu and Liberation War” across the country where around 3,500 children took part. Among them, 71 children got awards while 11 children won prizes in quiz competition.

Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children Affairs Ministry Rebeka Momin distributed prizes among the winner as the chief guest.

Secretary of the Women and Children Affairs Ministry Nasima Begum and Writer and Educationalist Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal addressed the function as special guests with Shishu Academy Chairman Selina Hossain in the chair. Shishu Academy Director Anzir Liton delivered the welcome address.
