Road accident kills nat’l handball goalkeeper in Kushtia

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2020 (BSS) – National handball team’s goalkeeper Sohanur Rahman Sohan was killed in a road accident at Hossenabad Centre Intersection under Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia today.

He was 21, a Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) press release said.

Sohanur, who represented the nation in the last SA Games in Nepal in December last, has played in different age-level tournaments and participated in different national competitions in the past six years. He was also a member of youth handball team.

Sohanur fell in critical injury in a motorcycle accident in the morning in Hossenabad area. He was then referred to Dhaka for better treatment, but died on the way in the afternoon.

In a message, the BHF president AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, officials, players, referees and trainers expressed deep shock at the death of Sohan.

They also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
