BUET to follow existing rule in admission test

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2020 (BSS) – The authorities of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) decided to enroll students to the university following its existing admission test directives like previous years.

The decision was made at an academic council meeting on Wednesday night, BUET Student Welfare and Academic Council Member Prof Mizanur Rahman confirmed BSS.

Mizanur said it was decided that the BUET authority will enroll students through the existing admission tests system like the previous years.

Replying to a query, he said, “We are not against uniform admission system but we will admit students according to our existing rules. BUET is an autonomous higher educational institution. It has own system to enroll the students”.

Earlier on February 13, UGC decided to hold a uniform admission test for all public universities from the next academic year of 2020-2021 to reduce sufferings of students and their guardians.

As per the decision, the test will be simultaneously held at all universities on a same day instead of the existing system under which students need to go to different universities across the country for the entrance examinations.

However, Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Jahangirnagar University did not confirm their participation in the process.

BUET already took their decision. Dhaka University will hold its academic council meeting on Monday regarding the matter. It is expected that the decision on this issue will come on the day.
