PM invites more German investment in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Aug 10, 2017 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today urged the German entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh, taking the advantage of cheap labour and other facilities here.

She made the request when German parliament member Dr. Hans-Peter Uhi called on her at the Prime Minister’s office.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the Prime Minister mentioned about the economic cooperation and bilateral trade between the two countries.

She told the German MP that her government is setting up some 100 economic zones across the country to attract more foreign investments and thus spur economic growth.

She recalled the contributions of Germany during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh. Recalling her last month visit to Germany, the Prime Minister said the current Bangladesh-Germany relationship is very strong.

The German MP apprised the Prime Minister of the present state of MoU signed between the two countries on E-passport project on G to G basis.

In this regard, the Prime Minister said the government has already instructed all concerned for the speedy implementation of the project.

PM’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury were present on the occasion, among others.
