Nayeem takes 8-wicket, as North Zone dismissed at 272 in BCL

DHAKA, Feb 14, 2020 (BSS)- A eight-wicket haul by Nayeem Hasan saw North Zone secure their first innings at 272 against East Zone on the first day of the third round of Bangladesh Championship League today (Friday) at Sheikh
Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

North Zone suffered early batting jolt as they lost three quick wickets for
46 runs in the score board, all picked up by Nayeem Hasan.

Junaid Siddique was the first man to go making eight runs while Rony
Talukder departed from the crease after scoring 28 runs. Tanbir also lasted a
little giving a catch to Nasir Hossain after making 4 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim then came to crease to stop the rot as he, pairing with
Naeem Islam contributed 56 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Nayeem
Hasan struck again on North Zone innings taking the wicket of Naeem for 31
runs.

Mushfiqur again paired another 74 runs with Mahidul Islam Ankon for the
sixth wicket stand but Nayeem was not in a mood to spare the North zone’s
batsmen as he claimed the wicket of Ankon for 23.

The diminutive wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur kept his wicket intact in
the other end with a responsible knock of 140 runs off 157 balls hitting 16
boundaries and one over boundary before he was clean bowled by Hasan Mahmud.

Nayeem Hasan then picked up the wicket of Sunzamul Islam for 29 and
completed his eighth wicket haul putting an end of North in one innings
dismissing Salauddin Sakil for 3.

Apart from Nayeem Hasan’s eight wickets for 107 runs, Hasan Mahmud
captured the remaining two wickets conceding 50 runs.

In reply, East Zone started their first innings not in a good shape as
they scored 3 for the loss of two wickets at stumps.

Saqain Sajib scored zero on the crease as the stumps were drawn for the
day.

Sanjit Saha and Sunzamul Islam took one wicket each for 0 and 2 runs
respectively.
