Speedy trial of Sagar-Runi murder case demanded
DHAKA, Feb 11, 2020 (BSS) – Leaders of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) today organized a protest rally here demanding speedy trial of journalist-couple Sagar-Runi murder case.
DRU President Rafiqul Islam Azad presided over the rally while its General Secretary Riaz Chowdhury conducted it.
Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
In February 11, 2012, Maasranga Television news editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi were stabbed to death in their apartment in city’s Razabazaar area.
Runi’s brother Nowsher Alam Roman filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police on February 12, 2012.
The case was initially investigated by the Detective Branch (DB) of police. Later, it was transferred to RAB on April 18 on the same year.
