DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – Teachers and students of Dhaka University today demanded withdrawal of the honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) degree from former Pakistani autocrat ruler Ayub Khan, President Iskandar Mirza and Khawaja Nazimuddin.

The demand came from a sit-in programme in front of Anti-Corruption Raju Memorial Sculpture organised by teachers and students of DU’s linguistics department.

The protesters described the three Pakistanis as oppressors and enemies of the country and said the DU authorities should withdraw the honorary degree of them as they played heinous role during the Liberation War.

The university had conferred the honorary degree to them before the Liberation War.
