Southeast Asian nations urged to improve civil service

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain urged Southeast Asian countries to enhance regional cooperation for ensuring greater improvement of civil service.

`There is a regional forum in South East Asia for mutual cooperation on various issues of the civil service. Government and civil service members of this region are being benefitted out of it. The cooperation between different ministries and training institutes need to be increased for further development of the civil services of these countries”, he said.

The state minister was addressing as chief guest the opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Public Administration and Development at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) in Savar on Wednesday.

Farhad said every country needs administrative reforms for various reasons and the role of academicians and experts is very important in this regard.

Secretary of Coordination and Reforms division Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of Maldives Civil Service Commission Ali Shamim and President of Asian Association for Public Administration Prof. Alex B. Brilatance spoke at the event as the special guests with BPATC Rector Md Rakib Hossain in the chair.

A total of 35 researchers from 14 countries are participating in the three-day conference.
