DHAKA, Aug 09, 2017 (BSS) – Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) today said Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith’s comments on the 9th wage board for journalists are “unexpected, unwarranted and unacceptable”.
“The journalist community has rejected his speech as it is unexpected, unwarranted and unacceptable,” they said at an emergency meeting held its office at Jatiya Press Club here.
BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul presided over the meeting, said a release.
The journalist leaders said the finance minister gave confusing information in his speech regarding the wage board.
The meeting thanked the reporters who gave their instant reactions to the finance minister’s comments and also welcomed different associate bodies and organizations for their reactions over the issue.
The meeting decided to hold a press conference soon in response to Muhith’s “confusing” comments on the 9th wage board, the release added.
The BFUJ leaders also demanded formation of the ninth wage board within August 15.
