Winning streak at bourses halted

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed today slipped into red, snapping a two-day winning streak as risk-averse investors rushed for sale on sector-wise issues.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4479.40 points on Tuesday with a loss of 27.47 points or 0.60 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 9.86 points and 3.48 points to settle at 1526.30 points and 1031.33 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 137,782 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 172.56 million securities.

Losers took a lead over gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 131 securities gained price while 177 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Gemini Sea Food, Phoenix Finance First Mutual Fund, Monno Ceramic, Monno Staffler, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Exim Bank First Mutual Fund, Fu Wang Food, Prime Bank First ICB AMCL Mutual Fund, CAPM IBBL Islami Mutual Fund and Bengal Windsor.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by BBS Cables, Summit Power, Square Pharma, Grameenphone, Indo-Bangla Pharma, KPCL, ADN Telecom, Oimex Electrode and VFS Tread.

The top 10 losers were Dhaka Dying, Tallu Spinning, Mercantile Insurance, GBB Power, United Air, Mithun Knitting, Pragati Insurance, Tung Hai Knitting, Genex Infosys and Takaful Insurance.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red from the winning streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 42.83 points and 69.05 points to stand at 8269.53 points and 13642.60 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 8,982,959 shares and mutual fund of 247 companies were traded, of which 88 issues advanced while 132 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged.
