PATUAKHALI, Feb 04, 2020 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid arrived here today
to attend the second convocation of Patuakhali Science and Technology
University (PSTU) slated for tomorrow afternoon.
A helicopter carrying the President, his spouse Rashida Khanam and other
entourage members landed at Tulatoly makeshift helipad adjacent to Kuakata
Parjatan Motel and Youth Inn at about 4:33 pm.
Local lawmakers and senior ruling Awami League leaders, high officials of
local administration welcomed the President upon his arrival.
Later, the President along with his family members and secretaries
concerned visited Kuakata beach and also witnessed the scenario of sunset at
Kuakata.
Kuakata is a rare scenic Bangladesh eco-tourism destination under Kalapara
upazila, just about 70 kilometers away from the district headquarters of
Patuakhali and 320 kilometers away from capital Dhaka.
“The President, also the Chancellor of the university, will preside over
the 2nd convocation ceremony of PSTU on its campus tomorrow at 3 pm,”
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.
At the PSTU convocation, former UGC Chairman and President of Bangladesh
Academy of Science Emeritus Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury will deliver his speech
as the Convocation Speaker where Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend
as the special guest.
