Deal with Singapore likely to build Bay-Terminal at Ctg port

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh may sign an agreement with Singapore to build Bay-Terminal at Chattogram Port in February.

The Chattogram Port Authority is now conducting a feasibility study on construction of the Bay-Terminal at the country’s largest seaport. After completing the feasibility study, other works of Bay-Terminal will begin, said a press release of the Shipping Ministry.

The Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) International Private Limited Company has already expressed its interest to construct the first container terminal, including two or three jetties of Bay Terminal.

Chattogram Port Authority and Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority jointly will prepare an action plan or timeline and then will share it with the PSA.

Singapore has also expressed interest to invest in Bangladesh’s logistic sector, the press release said.

Singapore came up with its interest when a Singapore delegation, led its High Commissioner in Dhaka Derek Loh, met State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at his ministry office here today.

Senior Secretary of the ministry Md Abdus Samad and Regional Chief Executive Officer of PSA International Private Limited Company Wan Chee Foong were, among others, present at the meeting.
