Voters happy with EVM system

DHAKA, Feb 1, 2020 (BSS) – The voters of elections to Dhaka south and north city corporations have expressed satisfaction over the electronic votingmachine (EVM) system as it is a modern, easier and quicker method to castvotes.

The young voters were very excited to exercise their right to franchise
through EVM system for the first time in the major Dhaka city polls but some
senior citizens faced a little bit trouble in matching finger print at the
time of casting their votes.

“I’m very happy to cast my vote through the EVM system within a moment. It
is very easy and modern system,” Elas Miah, a voter of Shaheed Monu Miah High
School at Tejgaon in the city, told a correspondent of BSS after casting his
vote.

Abdul Mannan, another voter of the center, said: “When I pressed my finger
on the machine, my details of national identity card was showed in the
monitor. After verification, I cast my vote very quickly without facing any
hassle.”

Presiding officer of the centre Belayet Hossain said the election
atmosphere was very much satisfactory as the voters could cast their votes in
an easier and faster way through EVMs.

Abul Kalam Azad, a voter of Tejgaon Adarsha School and College, said
earlier he had a little bit fear about the digital system, but when he went
to cast his vote, he found the EVM is a very easier system.

Kamal Hossain, presiding officer of the centre, said several senior
citizens faced a little bit problem in matching finger print. After using
petroleum jelly in finger, their finger prints were matched and they could
cast their votes.

Farid Uddin Ahmed Raton, a councilor candidate of the ruling Awami League
for ward no-20 of DSCC, said EVM is a very simple and modern system so the
voters can cast their votes in quicker time.

Bimal Paul, a voter of Kazi Motahar Hossain Bhaban Center at Dhaka
University, said he is very satisfied with the EVM system as he cast his vote
within a short moment without facing any trouble.

Kazi Hasanul Islam, a voter of Shaheed Faruque Iqbal Primary School under
ward nn-12 of DSCC, also expressed satisfaction over the digital system.
