SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh today said the present government is always aware of taking legal actions against any activities that can undermine the religious sentiment in the country.

“The present government led by Awami League is careful enough to uphold the spirit and values of all religions as Bangladesh is an independent, sovereign and secular state,” the Premiere said this while replying to a starred question from Opposition Chief Whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga of Rangpur-1 in the House.

The government, she said, is working relentlessly for overall development of the country through ensuring equal educational opportunities for all.

Referring to the allegation of imposing a ban on wearing of head-scarves by girl students at Motijheel Ideal School and College, Sheikh Hasina said, “The education ministry in its investigation didn’t find authenticity about the allegation. The governing body of the institution also didn’t take any decision to impose a ban on wearing of headscarves by its girl students”.

As per decision of the governing body of the school, the dress code for the female students from class VI to X is royal blue shirt (Kamij) with loose fitting and white pajama with wide cross-belt head-scarves, said the PM.

Ranga, in his question, asked the Prime Minister whether it was true that Motijheel Ideal School and College has imposed a ban on wearing of headscarves by girls in their classrooms.

In reply to a supplementary question from BNP MP Md Harunur Rashid (Chapainawabganj-3), the Prime Minister said she keeps eyes on everything though she moves amid security protocol.
