President mourns death of Islamic Scholar Azhar Ali Anower Shah

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today mourned the death of Allama Azhar Ali Anower Shah, Khatib of the historic Shahidee Mosque in Kishoreganj.

In a condolence message, the President expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Anower Shah, who breathed his last at 5:30 pm today at a city hospital at the age of 73.

Anower Shah has been suffering from tongue cancer for long. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

“At his death, the nation has lost an eminent Islamic scholar . . . His death is really an irreparable loss to the country,” President Hamid added in the message.

The head of the state also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
