AL, other organizations pay rich tribute to Bangamata

DHAKA, Aug 08, 2017 (BSS) -The ruling Awami League, its associate bodies and other likeminded organizations today paid tribute to Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Muijb placing wreaths at her grave at Banani graveyard here on the occasion of her 87th birth anniversary.

Begum Fazilatunnesa, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, faced martyrdom along with Bangabandhu and other family members during the brutal predawn attack of some disgruntled army personnel on August 15 in 1975.

Leaders and workers of different organizations including AL and its other associate bodies also offered Quran Khwani, milad and doa mahfils near the grave seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangamata.

Awami League advisory council member Tofail Ahmed, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretaries Mahabub-Ul-Alam Hanif, MP, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, and Abdur Rahman, MP, organising secretaries Khalid Mahmud and Enamul Haque Shamim, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, were present.

Later, Leaders and workers of Awami League North and South City unit, Juba League (JL), Swechchasebak League (SL), Jatiya Sramik League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Krishak League, Bangamata Parishad and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and many other organizations also placed wreaths at her grave marking her birth anniversary.

On this day in 1930, Begum Fazilatunnessa was born at Tungipara village in Gopalganj subdivision which was later upgraded to a district.
