Kamrangirchar gang-rape suspect Rony put on one-day remand
DHAKA, Jan 11, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today put the suspect Rony on one-day remand in a case filed over gang-rape incident of a teenage girl in city’s Kamrangirchar area on Thursday.
Investigation officer produced Rony before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand for interrogation.
Allowing the police plea, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain placed him on one-day remand.
On January 10, Police arrested five accused aged around 18 in conception with the case including a female friend of the victim.
The court also recorded the confessional statements of other three arrestees –Hasan, Sifat and Sabuj–in the same case as they were produced before court by police today.
Female arrestee Shwapna was sent to jail by the court following the plea of police afterwards.
The 13-year-old rape victim was admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
