Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 10, 2020 (BSS) – The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation and Architect of Independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with day-long programmes in befitting manner in the district today.

The divisional and district administrations, Awami League (AL) and its
associated bodies, different sociocultural and professional organisations
chalked out programmes in celebration of the historical day of Bangabandhu’s
return to the soil of independent Bangladesh from Pakistani captivity.

The district and city units of AL and its associate bodies chalked out
programmes to pay due homage to Bangabandhu.

The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags atop
party offices, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, bringing
out rallies followed by placing wreaths at the Mural of Bangabandhu, doa
mahfil and discussions.

Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam, Deputy Inspector General for
Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, Police
Super Biplob Kumar Sarker with other officials placed wreaths at the mural of
Bangabandhu in the morning.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, District Council Chairman
Advocate Chhafia Khanom and Rangpur Sadar upazila Chairman Nasima Zaman Boby
placed wreaths there.

President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary
Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its
General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal with other leaders placed wreaths at
the mural of Bangabandhu.

President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the main
discussion moderated by its Organising Secretary Touhidur Rahman Tutul at
district AL office in Betpotti area in the city.

AL central committee member Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, General
Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, its Joint General
Secretary of district AL Rosy Rahman, President of district Awami Mohila
League Mortuza Mansur, its General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite,
President of district Swechchasebak League Sirajul Islam Pramanik, President
of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan Rony, among others, addressed the
event.

President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over another discussion
moderated by its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal at Bangabandhu Square
in the city.

Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju urged the party leaders and workers to work
together for realising the dream of Bangabandhu by building a developed
‘Sonar Bangla’ to make independence meaningful for common people fulfilling
their hopes and aspirations.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed called upon the party leaders and workers to work
selflessly for building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed country
by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to pay due respect to
Bangabandhu.
