‘Mujib Year’ countdown in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 10, 2020 (BSS) – Khulna District Administration here today began splendid countdown celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programme began at 6 past one minute heralded by a 31-gun salute at the Khulna District Stadium.

As part of the programme, the AL leaders and government officials placed of floral wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and paid homage to the memory of the martyrs of the War of Liberation.

A documentary was presented thorough projectors for life sketch of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, National Anthem was rendered.

As part of the programme, a total of 1920 children, 1920 Alem (Islamic scholars) and Freedom Fighters performed Bangabandhu’s Historical 7th March speech wearing ‘Mujib Coat’ at Khulna Zilla Stadium under the auspices of ‘Child Integrity Bangabandhu Forum’.

Special prayers offered seeking eternal peace of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family members and departed souls of Liberation War martyrs and martyred intellectuals, progress and welfare of the nation at all places of religious worship.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Lawmakers of Khulna 2 and 6 constituencies Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel and Akhteruzzaman Babu, Chairman of Khulna Zilla Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Hawlader, among others, attended the countdown beginning moments while Deputy Commissioner Md. Helal Hossain presided over the event.

On January 10, 1972 is very significant day for the nation for beginning the countdown of the Mujib year as it marks the historical “Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day”.

“Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebration, officially termed as the “Mujib Borsho” started on his birthday, March 17 and to continue till March 26, 2021, which also marks the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence Day as well,”. Ruling Awami League leaders, its different wings and front organisations, officials of local government bodies and Representatives of law enforcing agencies, Freedom Fighters, Teachers, students, cultural activists, and NGO personnel and people from all walks of life participated in the grand celebration programme.
