‘Progressing ICT sector accelerates building digital Bangladesh’

RANGPUR, Jan 9, 2020 (BSS) – The progressing information and communication technology (ICT) sector has accelerated the process of building a middle income digital Bangladesh by realising the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The observation came today at a discussion held at Town Hall auditorium to celebrate the Digital Bangladesh Best Department award winning occasion by the Department of Social Service (DSS) on the third ‘Digital Bangladesh Day-2019′ in the city.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded 14 organisations,
including the DSS, and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the
development of the country’s IT sector in a function held at Dhaka city.

The divisional and district offices of the DSS jointly brought out a
colourful rally before the discussion marking the cheerful occasion with the
theme of “Verify the accuracy first before sharing on the Internet.’

Earlier, a colourful rally with participation of government officials,
teachers, students, scouts, grassroots level public representatives,
entrepreneurs of union digital centres and civil society members was brought
out on the city streets.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan led the rally and attended the
discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Director of the DSS Md. Mossarraf
Hossain in the chair. Organising Secretary of district Awami League Touhidur
Rahman Tutul, Member of Samaj Kalyan Parishad China Chowdhury, Assistant
Directors of the DSS Abdul Matin and Humayun Kabir and cultural personality
Monwar Hossain addressed.

The speakers said digitisation has become the driving force to accelerate
development in every sector making civic life easier and benefiting rural
people.

The chief guest congratulated the DSS on winning the prestigious award
through successfully providing services to people adopting information
technology and hoped that the award would further inspire the DSS officials
in achieving more success.

He urged the DSS officials and unemployed to render their dedicated
services to the targeted group of people to achieve the SDGs by 2030 for
building a developed Bangladesh by 2041 leaving no one behind.
