RANGPUR, Jan 8, 2020 (BSS) – Kurigram was declared today as the first
scout district of the country with launching of scout activities of Cab,
Scout and Rover Scout units in all 1,892 educational institutions across the
district.

Limited Md. Abul Kalam Azad made the declaration at a function held at
‘Udgiran Mancha’ on the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises in Kurigram
this evening as the chief guest.
On the occasion, he said, “There is no alternative to scout activities
to become good people, people with good character, ideal people, gentle
people and eligible people with excellent leadership qualities for building a
decent future of the nation.”
Kurigram district administration organised a rally of scout
representatives of all nine upazilas of the district at the function with
Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram Sultana Pervin in the chair.
Former Senior Secretary and National Commissioner (ICT) of Bangladesh
Scouts Mahfuzur Rahman, National Commissioner (Organization) of Bangladesh
Scouts and Additional Secretary (Budget and Audit) of the Ministry of Primary
and Mass Education Md. Akhteruz Zaman Khan Kabir, Director General
(Additional Secretary) Rural Development Academy (RDA) at Bogura Md Aminul
Islam, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam and Commissioner of
Bangladesh Scouts for Dinajpur Region Md. Akhteruzzaman, Leader Trainer of
Bangladesh Scouts Samiul Islam Nantu and General Secretary of Kurigram
District Scout Md. Shahabuddin Ahmed attended the function.
Later, Abul Kalam Azad along with other guests ceremonially unveiled the
plaque and released balloons after announcing Kurigram as the first ever
scout district of the country for successfully fulfilling all necessary
conditions.
Earlier, Kurigram district administration completed cent percent online
registration of memberships of 53,000 scouts and Cab, Scout and Rover Scout
units at all 1,892 primary, secondary and higher secondary level and higher
educational institutions in the district last month.
Talking to BSS tonight, Deputy Commissioner Sultana Pervin dedicated the
success of Kurigram to become the country’s first scout district to the
centenary birthday celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman in the Mujib Barsho 2020.
