GOPALGANJ, Jan 7, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Primary and Mass
Education Md Zakir Hossain today said marking the Mujib year-2020, the
government has a plan to bring 2,166 primary schools in 16 upazila under
midday meal coverage.
“Under school feeding policy, all primary schools will be brought under
midday meal coverage in phases for enhancing quality of education alongside
improving nutritional status of children,” he said while inaugurating a mid-
day meal programme at Nilfa Boyra Government Primary school in Tungipara,
Gopalganj, a press release said.
The state minister said currently 28.75 lakh students under 104 upazilas
has been brought under midday meal programme. Each student is being given
fortified biscuits of 75 gram daily, he added.
The midday meal programme includes high protein enriched biscuits and
cooked food, which is being served every alternate day.
As part of the initiative, cooked food is being distributed among students
of 33 schools in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj from today.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gopalganj district Shahida Sultana presided
